Project Overview
A logistics operator in the Gulf region needed walkway and packing-station surfacing for two warehouses that sees pallet jacks and foot traffic 16 hours a day, in ambient temperatures above 40 °C.

Warehouse Flooring in Extreme Heat: What Changes Above 40 °C
Gulf-region warehouses are a different engineering problem from temperate facilities. In unconditioned zones, floor-level temperatures regularly exceed 40 °C, which softens ordinary rubber compounds, accelerates abrasion under pallet-jack wheels and can cause edge curl where rolls meet ramps. For this project we adapted the SBR compound and curing cycle for high-temperature performance, and specified thickness by duty zone: 3 mm rolls on walkways, stepping up to 6–10 mm at packing stations where trolleys turn and pallets drop. Roll widths were custom-cut to the warehouse bay dimensions (1.0 and 1.25 m) so seams run parallel to racking and few pieces cross high-traffic aisles. Both facilities installed during normal operations without closing a single bay — rolls laid directly over prepared concrete with double-sided tape at perimeters.

The scale of this order — roughly 12,000 m² across two facilities — made sequencing the real challenge. The loading plan was organized so each container's rolls unloaded in installation order, cutting on-site handling in half, and edge ramps in matching material were supplied with each thickness zone so trolley traffic crossed transitions smoothly. Eight months after completion, wear inspection showed the high-traffic packing stations holding well within expectation, and the operator reordered for a third warehouse with the same specification. For industrial buyers, the lesson transfers anywhere: match thickness to wheel loads, cut widths to bay geometry, and never let installation require closing the facility.
